Welcome to my site! My name is Maggie Speak and I’m a family history researcher. I’ve been researching for more than 10 years and my journey has taken me to all corners of the world. Along the way, I’ve learned so much about my ancestor’s and others lives, sometimes good, sometimes shocking, but always enlightening.
More importantly, I’ve been able to help others unlock some of their own ancestral mysteries. Whether it’s finding a single record, a long lost relative, the disappearance of a whole family or even major projects like tracing direct lineage as far back as records go, it’s always been rewarding!
Currently I’m expanding my knowledge by undertaking the courses run by the National Institute for Genealogical Studies. The expert tuition has enlightened me to even more avenues to explore when searching for that elusive relative! I am half way to gaining my advanced certificate in Australian genealogy, with elective courses in UK and Canadian records. I particularly enjoy trying to decipher and transcribe old handwriting.
I’m also a member of the Western Australian Genealogical Society, the National Genealogical Society and I volunteer as a transcriber for various genealogical organisations. I’m constantly learning and value the very high standards of professionalism set out by internationally recognised genealogical associations. I strive to maintain those standards.
